For 26 years, the Greater Blacksburg Open (GBO) was a fixture at Blacksburg Country Club. In January 2001, a new tradition began as the first Allegheny Amateur was held in Blacksburg, Virginia. It was a great event for almost 20 years, but 2021 started a new level of amateur competition and the Allegheny Amateur has become a Four-Ball tournament.
Blacksburg Country Club is excited to host this newly formatted event attracting the best players from the State of Virginia in a quality amateur golf competition. Below you will find key information about the tournament.
TOURNAMENT DATE: SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, APRIL 6 and 7, 2024
FORMAT: TWO-MAN BEST BALL. ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A USGA HANDICAP INDEX OF 6.0 OR LESS.
DIVISIONS: OPEN DIVISION (49 AND UNDER) 36 TEAMS BLACK TEES
SENIOR DIVISION (50 and OVER) 12 TEAMS BLUE TEES
SUPER SENIOR DIVISION (65 AND OVER) 12 TEAMS WHITE TEES
COST: $400/TEAM INCLUDES PRACTICE ROUND (FRIDAY, APRIL 5), LUNCH BOTH TOURNAMENT DAYS, PRIZES
AND TEE GIFT.
PRIZES: TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED TO THE WINNERS IN EACH DIVISION, ALONG WITH GOLF SHOP CREDIT FOR 1/3 OF THE FIELD IN EACH DIVISION.
